List of material (LOM) server room-The preparation of documents for the implementation of a server room (data center) infrastructure standardization project is a bit more complicated than setting up the network cable infrastructure of a building, and an organization usually has more than 4 or 6 racks of equipment.

Due to the possible  risks of non-standard equipment maintenance, it is thought to optimize its server room infrastructure based on standards ANSI/TIA/EIA–942 and  BICSI-002-2011 and higher versions of these standards.

Standardization, modernization or luxury?

• What is the difference between standardization and luxury construction of an equipment room?

You should go to the strategies of the organization .If you have more than 6 racks of equipment, you will experience high power consumption so you need a more powerful cooling system.you have more complex connections between racks and you want high capacity and high speed in communication between equipment. You cannot maintain and manage a server room or data center with many racks without planning ,drawing ,designing , maintenance and repair plan and choosing the right classification of the data center , without interruption and damage in times of crisis.

Rack and accessories

Network racks and cabinets:

your data center or server room needs standard racks. These dimensions are usually about to meters high and one meter deep so that the whole equipment can fit in them.

Rack accessories :

Accessory racks included horizontal and vertical cable managers , power distribution panels , rack lighting , fans , covering empty spaces , cable input hair brushes , cable trays above or below the racks

Server room cooling and ventilation system

External cooling units:

each cooling system includes an external cooling unit (condenser) that is outside the building.

Internal cooling units:

the internal units of the cooling system are placed inside the room and blow the cold between the racks.

Copper cables and fiber optic

Copper cables between racks :

between all the racks needed to have high speed copper connections of 10 G , which you can  supply using category  6 or 7 and recently 8 cables.

Optical fiber between the racks :

for optical fiber communications , you must use OM3 or OM2 multi mode fibers.

Optical fibers entering the data center :

communication with the outside of the data center or server room is done with OS1 or OS2 single mode cables.

Data center electricity

Electric cables :

to deliver electricity  from the main source to the electrical panels and from the electrical panels to racks and energy consumers , you need electrical cabling .These cables should be selected carefully and based on the need to have the correct section and the required technical specifications.

Switchgears :

a standard server room has between 3 and 5 electrical distribution boards which must be signed by an electrical engineer and built by a manufacturer using standard methods and quality equipment.

Earth well :

the earthing system of the data center requires an earth well which must be drilled and configured with the proper distance and with standard methods.

Server room lighting :

each server room needs 500 lux of light the distribution of lightning panels must be done with special software and than implemented

Server room emergency electrical :

all racks and their internal equipment are connected to the emergency power system and they power from this system during a power (electric) blackout.
